Doberman Foster and Adoption

Sweet Home Doberman Rescue (SHDR) is the only 501c3, not for profit Doberman rescue organization in Alabama. Founded in 2015, SHDR has committed to the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of abused, abandoned, and/or neglected Dobermans. It is SHDR's personal mission to assist this magnificent breed in any way we can.

We are dedicated to educating the public as well as future Doberman owners about this majestic, often misunderstood breed. They are often portrayed as aggressive dogs who will attack at a moment's notice when in fact they are Velcro dogs who are loyal, protective, and want to please their family! A Doberman wants nothing more than to be by your side and on your couch.

All SHDR rescues are up to date on their shots, HW tested, microchipped, and spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Some come injured or abused and take a little longer to ready them for a forever home.
Our adoption area is primarily the lower east side of the country, however every application is taken into consideration.

All foster and adoptive homes require calls to personal references, a vet check, and a home visit to insure our dogs are afforded a chance at a healthy, loving rest of their life after an uneasy beginning.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

-save abused, neglected, and unwanted dobermans
-rehabilitate behavioral issues
-educate the public on this very misunderstand breed
-promote spay and neuter of pets
-promote the use of vaccines and heart worm prevention

support for fosters and adopters, public education, social media, resources from reliable sourcing.

Every board member has extensive breed experience. Board members are able to perform behavior assessments and match the right family with the right pet.

We have strived to educate the public about this breed and public opinion is changing. We are still working to educate on the importance of spaying and neutering.

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
