Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Albert and Ethel Herzstein Dept. of Geriatric Wellness and Medical Services
As one of the largest geriatric campuses on the Texas Gulf Coast providing multiple levels of care within the framework of Jewish traditions and values, we serve extremely ill and disabled individuals requiring a full time staff of healthcare professionals and medical services. Seven Acres is a non-for-profit and nonsectarian facility serving all who require our services. Our Geriatric Medical Services and Wellness includes Internal Geriatric Medicine intervention by board certified Physicians and Geriatric Nurse Practitioners, licensed Nurses, Specialized Nutrition, and Therapists providing occupational, speech and physical therapy. We are unique in that, to our knowledge, this is the only such program in Houston.
Long-term medical facilities such as Seven Acres provide a higher level of medical care than ever before. Seven Acres offers multiple levels of care including Intermediate and Intensive care, Hospice and Palliative care, Skilled nursing care and Assisted Living. The average age of our residents is now 86 years old with an average length of residency of 2.5 years. For example, if a resident has broken a hip, they are discharged after an extremely short stay at the hospital and readmitted to our facility in a very debilitated state. Seven Acres’ medical team must continue the role similar to the acute care sector as government funding diminishes for hospital stays. Currently, 83% of our residents are indigent and qualify for inadequate Medicaid funding. In FY19, Seven Acres provided $7,878,654 in charity care.

Balance sheetFiscal Year: Sep 01 - Aug 31
The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
