Our programs

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Community Sing

The Santa Barbara Choral Society singers are admitted into the chorus by audition, which limits opportunity for non music readers to join our chorus. The Community Sing program offers anyone from the community to spend a day working on their vocal performance skills with a celebrated choral conductor. SBCS offers this as a way for the community to come together and enjoy vocal music together under the instruction of a well known conductor.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Convert to a more standard business operations model.

Cultivate budgetary sustainability by adjusting programs to more attunely fit the needs of our community.

Develop a method of gathering accurate data analytics that help shape our vision and longterm strategy.

Work with outside consultants for both transitional leadership and Board Development, and undergo DEI training so we can understand our organization as it pertains to our local demographic and arts industry.

Work with a data management specialist and hire a consultant to develop data measuring tools for us to assess our programs, audience perspective, participant perspective, and current trends.

Using the data collected, assess our program, and make adjustments, either in our concert repertoire, or by expanding our community outreach, or both, to meet the needs of our community and reach a wider audience.

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Jul 01 - Jun 30

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
