Mission

Jet Cities Chorus sings 4-part harmony in the barbershop style in the Greater South Puget Sound area of Washington State. We follow the mission of our parent organization, Sweet Adelines International, which is to elevate women singers worldwide through education, performance, and competition in barbershop harmony and a cappella music. We enrich the lives of our members and our communities through song, and women of any age, disability, ethnicity, gender expression, nationality, race, religion, and sexual orientation are welcome to join us on the risers each week. Membership is open to women (including transgender women) and non-binary people assigned female at birth.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Performance Opportunity Program (POP)

Education for members and the women of our communities is an important part Jet Cities Chorus' mission. Annually (usually in the fall) we offer a series of free vocal classes to women interested in learning more about singing in the barbershop style. For 5-6 weeks, lessons in basic vocal production, choreography, and performing skills are provided by our music director, choreographer, and key chorus personnel. Our guests join the chorus on the risers for part of the rehearsal, then adjourn to another room to have small group classes. Learning tools and individual coaching are provided to allow our guests to become comfortable with singing a cappella harmonies.

At the end of the program, our guests join the chorus on the risers to perform in our annual, free community concert. Guests are encouraged to consider joining the chorus following the concert, but are not obligated in any way.
