Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Production costs are extremely high in Los Angeles. We need donor dollars to put on the high quality productions that we are known for.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Ensemble productions, InterPlay, InterActivity, a play development lab, and play reading series.
INTERACT THEATRE COMPANY is one of the most celebrated and esteemed theatre companies in Los Angeles. Since its full company production of Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood in 1993, the company has received 85 awards and 150 nominations for outstanding achievement. Beginning in 1990 under the inspiration of actor Barry Heins and 15 of his New York actor friends, the theatre has grown into what the Los Angeles Times praised as “one of L.A.’s true theatre successes.” NoHo News called Interact “a company of hard-hitting professionals with a rare and undeniable combination of heart and expertise,” and Back Stage West cited ITC for “sustained excellence in theatre.”
InterPLAY
Interact Theatre Company's highly lauded two-week summer theatre workshop for under served youth in Los Angeles.
UCLA School of Law Staged Readings Series
Interact Theatre Company’s UCLA School of Law Staged Readings Series was created in 1999 by ITC’s first board president, UCLA Law Professor Emeritus Daniel Lowenstein. The series consists of one staged play reading each semester (occasionally two) pertaining to themes related to justice, government, and public responsibility. Audiences consist of ULCA students, faculty, staff, and alumni of the Law School and other departments. The purpose of the readings is to stimulate discussion of the ethical and societal issues raised in these excellent plays, to help stimulate interdisciplinary consideration of law and the humanities, and to entertain. Admission is free.
The Pulitzer Prize Winners and The Tony Award® Winners staged reading series at LA Public Library
In 2019/2020 Interact produced a staged reading series, THE PULITZER PRIZE WINNERS: 10 PLAYS FROM 10 DECADES, in partnership with Los Angeles Public Library, funded in part by a grant from the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. In 2022, a similar series was presented for the library: THE TONY AWARD® WINNERS, featuring six plays that won Broadway's highest honor, the Tony Award® for Best Play. The performances were live-streamed on BroadwayOnDemand.com.

INTERACT THEATRE COMPANY
Balance sheetFiscal Year: May 01 - Apr 30
The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
