What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

VetH.E.R.an

Through the VetH.E.R.an Program, Lambda Beta Alpha will be the reason women are equally acknowledged as the "service-member" and the "veteran", not stereotypically the spouse or dependent.

The organization seeks to accomplish this vision through our mission of improving awareness of veteran women’s health and education needs through civic responsibility-taking.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Lambda Beta Alpha seeks to create a partnership between its members and the community to help bridge the gap and improve the overall lack of knowledge, appreciation, and assistance that women who serve or have served in the US Armed Forces receive. This would have an impact on gender equality, improved physical and mental health, justice for the women soldiers who have suffered MST, who went missing, who were grossly mistreated, and so much more. These initiatives in turn could very well have global impact on women who serve in military branches around the world who face the same problems.

Lambda Beta Alpha looks to be a source by having established national programs such as LAMBDA month, VetHERan, Lambda Estates, the Throne, and working on the Lambda Beta Association. Each program encompasses projects and activities. LAMBDA Month and VetHERan are designed to highlight mental health issues among military veterans, as well as highlight and show appreciation for the women who are serving and have served in the military. Lambda Estates will be a shelter for the working homeless. The Estates will be a gated community with resources and space to help reestablish the veterans into the community and workforce. The Thone is the philanthropic arm of the organization, which will allow the organization to financially give back to partnerships. The Lambda Beta Association will be set up to help provide scholarships, emergency financial relief, and educational programs so members are able to continue being of service to the community.

Data
  • We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
Policies and processes
  • We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
  • We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
