Young Artist Competition

The Young Artist Competition (YAC) is held annually for aspiring students of classical instruments and voice. This competition provides them an opportunity to display their talent and be rewarded for it. Winners receive scholarship and are invited to perform in a preconcert program at our annual Chamber Music Festival and future ArtsLIVE! sponsored events.

ArtsLIVE! has sponsored performances of the Virginia Opera in local schools. In partnership with the Virginia Opera, we bring operettas to more than 7,000 elementary school children in schools throughout the region.

Funded by the Virginia Commission for the Arts and a variety of grants, charitable funds, and individual donors.

The AIM program provides inspiring entertainment throughout the year to an important segment of our population in local nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living and retirement communities, as well as senior centers. Some venues have included Chancellor’s Village, Brookdale, Hughes Home, Stafford Hospital, and AARP. Performing for AIM also provides opportunities for local musicians and vocalists to practice their talents for a very appreciative audience.

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
