Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Open Art Studio
Backstreet’s open studio is the nexus of our operations where visitors can participate in a wide range of creative mediums. We are open three days per week with two two-hour sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and an evening three-hour session on Thursday nights.
We offer weekly leatherworking, jewelry and small-scale metalsmithing, sewing, and painting instruction, as well as special workshops featuring fun and unexpected techniques and mediums like mosaic garden art and shibori-dyeing with natural indigo. Wednesdays are our designated “loud days” when we host a fun and raucous ukulele session for all skill levels and (literally) bang out leather and metal projects. On Thursday evenings, we host Wool Nerds, an instructional group dedicated to fiber arts.

Revenue vs. expenses: breakdown
Financial data
BACKSTREET COMMUNITY ARTS INC
Balance sheetFiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31
The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
MS KIMBERLY RAMEY
Making art has helped me sort through my emotions in the darkest times of my life. I cannot imagine life without it and I believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience creating art in many forms, whether they can afford it or not. Throughout my life, artists have encouraged me in my art making and I hope I can do the same for others. For me, art is a vital part of living.
