History Museum & Historic Village

Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village (BNHV) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) educational institution located in Amherst, New York. Our mission is to preserve, interpret, and exhibit the agricultural history and rural heritage of the Buffalo Niagara region. At our current location, our 35-acre campus includes a Historic Village with ten historic and two replica structures, a demonstration Farmstead with live animals, a Museum Exhibit and Collections Building housing more than 40,000 artifacts and 20,000 archives, and a multi-use Education Building. BNHV offers educational programming, field trips, summer camp, classes, tours, special events, rental opportunities, artisan workshops, community outreach activities, and community access to a variety of artifacts and historic resources retained in the Collections and Research Library.

Executive Director

Carrie L. Stiver

Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village is pleased to welcome Carrie Stiver as Executive Director. Carrie is the former Director of Conservation at the Strong National Museum of Play and is currently a doctoral candidate at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. She holds a Master of Science in Art Conservation from the University of Delaware, a Certificate of Advanced Study in Library Science from Simmons University, and a Bachelor of Art History from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. Carrie has served on the BNHV Board of Directors since 2017, filling roles such as Board Secretary and Chair of the Collections and Exhibits Committee. She is excited to continue serving the organization in this new capacity.
