Emilian Emeagwali

Dr. Emeagwali is a physical therapist, a businesswoman and owner of State Of The Art Physical Therapy Rehabilitation, P.C. in Valley Stream, New York. She is an Onitsha native in Anambra state, Nigeria. She attended elementary, secondary and undergraduate education in Nigeria prior to migrating to America in 1992 to join her husband. Her passion to help people is rooted in her upbringing by her late philanthropic parents, Mr. Vincent and Mrs. Margaret Onochie. In the quest to help her community, Dr. Emeagwali opened a Physical Therapy clinic in Valley Stream, New York in 2007 where she helps all her patients and offers her professional services regardless of their financial or insurance status. In 2009, she founded this 501(C)(3) nonprofit public charity organization, after she visited her homeland in Nigeria. She was appalled by what she saw in her home town, many children go to sleep hungry, no clean water, no decent clothing, and some are unable to go to school because of poverty.
