Mission

The object of this organization shall be to promote the study of family research, to collect and preserve biographical and historical records of the people of the community and their ancestors, to build and maintain a genealogical library, to offer programs of genealogical and historical interest to its members and to the general public, and to conduct education programs related to genealogy.

Annual Genealogical Seminar

Each year the Genealogical Society of Kendall County has brought an outstanding genealogist to the community as speaker for a day or two-day long seminar.  Attendees are from Kendall County and other areas throughout United States.

Genealogy courses are offered by the Genealogical Society of Kendall County.  The courses are designed to meet various schedules and audience types, e.g., Seniors, Veterans, Youth, etc. A syllabus is provided, and homework is assigned.

The Genealogical Society of Kendall County has a First Families Program where descendants of Founders whose ancestors settled in Kendall County before December 31, 1862, and Early Settlers whose ancestors settled in Kendall County between January 1, 1863, and December 31, 1900, are recognized.  Books are assembled and maintained by the Society for each First Family ancestor.  The books contain relevant genealogical and historical information including photographs, biographies, and family group sheets.  The Society has currently recognized and preserved the histories of over 250 Kendall County ancestors.

The Genealogical Society of Kendall County operates a genealogical library and research center. We have approximately 5000+ books, and historical items in our collection. In addition, we have a computer center that provides access to 14 premium genealogical research sites such as Ancestry, Fold3 and others.
