What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Newman Connection estimates that 80% of students stop practicing their faith at some point during college, and only 15% look for a campus ministry on their own. Currently, UT Dallas has almost 30,000 students, and about 6,000 students are believed to be Catholic. There is a  tremendous opportunity to meet the spiritual needs of a population of students seeking a relationship with Christ and serve as a beacon of joy and hope. In the words of Bishop Burns, “We have to spiritually feed the young people and provide for their continued Catholic formation while in a secular school setting. Effective campus ministries are vital for the future of the Church.” To that end, the establishment of a dedicated home for UT Dallas Catholic Campus Ministry will permit the FOCUS missionaries to more effectively minister to students, faculty, and community members.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The University Catholic Center seeks to increase the number of students who maintain their relationship with their faith, as well as assist additional students in reconnecting with that faith.

1. Offer faithful liturgies that spiritually nourish our faith community.
2. Offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation to help students realize God's forgiveness.
3. Provide recreational opportunities to help students build lasting, wholesome friendships.
4. Offer opportunities for education that prepare students for practically living out their faith.
