Juneteenth Observance Rio Grande Valley
ViVa host, plan, and collaborates Juneteenth events in McAllen, Edinburg, and San Benito, Texas. The goal is to add Juneteenth celebrations in every major city in the lower and upper Rio Grande Valley.

Goal I: To Grow and Develop Leadership within the VIVA Organization
Goal 2: To establish comprehensive communication mechanisms that increase and
enhance effective reach, connections, and visibility throughout the RGV
Goal 3: To increase volunteer capacity for sponsored or collaborative service project
and initiatives
B. ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

Goal 1: To enhance awareness and inclusion of Black history in the promotion and
celebration of multicultural heritages and legacies throughout the RGV
Goal 2: To enhance public awareness of and knowledge about Black History
Goal 3: To build a pipeline of professional career pathways for Black students
Goal 4: To provide support to area school districts for inclusion of Black history content
in their curricula
