Programs and results
What we aim to solve
The funding that we receive from the CFC Government Campaign has decreased for 5 years in a row due to a decision in Washington of a committee of professionals to attempt to fix the Campaign. The Campaign was doing fine but they thought it needed fixing. As a result our income has gone down 80% over the last 5 years. This has put a strain on all of our programs. We have had to cut programs, salaries, grants for research, travel and GIK shipments.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Esperanzo De Vida
BCARI provides shipments of medical supplies, medical equipment and humanitarian aid to Esperanza De Vida to be used by those in need in hospitals in Guatemala that treat breast cancer and other degenerative diseases. BCARI supports 5 hospitals in the Zacapa Region. The hospitals provide much needed medical care to many of the needy and disadvantaged people of their areas. The lack of properly equipped medical facilities and medical supplies contribute to the ongoing challenge of saving lives. Several thousand people are helped each year.
Oasis of Hope Hospital
Oasis of Hope Cancer Hospital has been treating cancer patients for over 50 years. Thousands of people come from all over the world for treatment. At Oasis they have tested over 75 different cancer therapies.
They presently are practicing Integrative Therapy, which takes the best of the traditional and alternative and blends them together. Their success rate is twice that of the National Health Institute in the USA.
Community Food Program
BCARI networks with other charities to distribute boxes of fruits and vegetables to the needy. Scientific research has proven that a diet of fruit and vegetables helps build the immune symptom and fights diseases.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We would like to get back to where we were 5 years ago when we were supporting more programs, shipping more containers of Medical supplies and equipment to hospitals and clinics that treat breast cancer and other related diseases. We also would like to travel to our projects to meet with directors and verify that they are fulfilling our charity mission.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We are working to develop a network of social media outreaches to reach more potential donors, face book, twitter, Guidestar and any others that will be a benefit to us.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have hired a social media consultant to help us fulfill our goals.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have not accomplished much at this time and have just resently been hired a social media consultant to help us.

Balance sheetFiscal Year: Oct 01 - Sep 30
The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
