Mission

WHEATs mission is to protect survivors, prevent violence and empower domestic violence, non-intimate partner sexual assault, and human trafficking survivors. We believe that: When you make the system work for the most marginalized and at risk, you help the system work better for everyone. We accomplish this by providing trauma-informed support services to survivors that help them survive crisis, rebuild their lives, and achieve brighter futures as they go through transitional periods in their lives. Since our organization is forever evolving we are fully committed to developing trauma-informed support services to meet the emerging community needs that fully equip survivors in overcoming and maintaining a life of continued success.

WHEAT is a 501(c)(3) community-based non-profit organization that provides direct care case management wrap around support services to survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault, as well as youth and families experiencing homelessness. We help our most vulnerable families survive crisis, rebuild their lives, and achieve brighter futures by providing support services for these individuals/families as they go through transitional periods in their lives. THE CURRENT ISSUE THAT WHEAT AIMS TO SOLVE: Sexual assault, human trafficking, domestic violence, and youth family homelessness are extremely complex issues with a long history in our society. Successfully addressing these traumas for individuals, families and communities requires a firm understanding of symptoms and causes, as well as the best, most effective strategies for helping survivors overcome and rebuild their lives. The assistance and resources offered by WHEAT fully equip survivors in overcoming and maintaining a life of continued success.

Case Management/Support Services/Training/Capacity Building Programs

Trauma-Informed Comprehensive Case Management Support Services:
WHEAT provides warm referral services to assist in locating and securing emergency, transitional, and/or permanent housing, and culturally specific wellness activities.

Training and Capacity Building Services:
WHEAT organizes workshops, and educational seminars on topics such as financial literacy, safety planning, goal planning, mental awareness, and trauma-informed care, community events, and training sessions identifying, addressing, and preventing domestic violence, non-intimate sexual assault, and human trafficking.

Trauma-Informed Culturally Specific Survivor-Centered Services:
WHEAT believes a culturally specific practice means to proactively integrate awareness of the cultural identities of survivors and staff and into our services, policies, structures, and environment.

MELVENNA FANT-JONES

Hello, my name is Melvenna Fant-Jones, and I am the Founder and CEO of Women Healing Eternally And Transforming (WHEAT, INC). My organization is a community-based 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides support services to survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault, as well as youth and families experiencing homelessness. Our ongoing goal for the individuals and families we assist is to move them toward self-sufficiency and independence and we aim to break the cycles of abuse, poverty, and violence. As a survivor myself, with almost 20 years of experience in the legal field, and community service with high documented honors, I am very passionate about helping families to thrive! I have lived experience on what it takes to survive crisis!
