Annual Conference
The National Conference on Geography Education is an annual event that provides opportunities for educators at all levels to exchange new ideas, the latest research, and advanced teaching strategies with colleagues from down the hall to around the world. Since 1915, NCGE has held meetings all over the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
Each year, hundreds of educators attend the NCGE meeting to experience one of a kind teacher workshops, research presentations, paper & poster sessions, field explorations, Expert guided tours, interactive labs, keynote lectures and panels, our annual awards presentation, and of course time for professional networking and community building. The latest classroom materials, textbook offerings, and educational resources are on display in our exhibit hall and finally, the hands-on workshops presented by companies such as Google, Esri, and National Geographic help educators stay on the cutting edge of the latest geospatial technology.
Content, Journals & Publications
The National Council for Geographic Education publishes books, lesson plans, teaching resources, and two professional journals; 'The Journal of Geography' (1897) and 'The Geography Teacher' (2007). In addition to thousands of academic articles, NCGE has published well over 200 professional works, publications and educational materials. The council is also the sole distributor of 'Geography for Life: The National Geography Standards' (1994 & 2012).
Awards
Each year the National Council for Geographic Education recognizes the nation's best educators and advocates for outstanding teaching, research, and service in geography education. Each year award nominations from around the globe are received, and after expert reviews, awards committees select that year's honorees. Balance sheetFiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31
The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
