What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

The North American Manipur Tribal Association (NAMTA) was formed in direct response to the violence perpetuated against the Kuki-Zomi people, a tribal indigenous ethnic and religious minority group of the state of Manipur in India, by American diaspora, whose immediate family members suffered the violence of the mob action on May 3rd 2023 leading to their homes being burned and family members hunted and injured. We aim to raise awareness of the issues in the short term, and with the following mission, vision and statement of values: Our Mission Preserve and protect the heritage, lives and lands of the tribal people of Manipur Our Vision Peace and prosperity of the tribal people of Manipur, as modern citizens of a global economy, living in peaceful and joyful coexistence with neighbors and nature Our Values We value our culture and history. We value our land and the natural resources around us. We are an egalitarian people, who believe in community, hard work, education, and family

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Help the victims of ethnic violence in Manipur

Manipur, a small picturesque state in north-east India, has been witnessing violent ethnic conflict in which over 150 lives have been tragically lost and more than 50,000 individuals displaced from their ancestral homes since May 2023.

This crisis, fueled by territorial disputes between the state-supported majority ethnic group and the indigenous minority Kuki-Zo tribal groups, continues with no immediate resolution in sight. The minority tribal groups have been persecuted and driven out of their ancestral homes and are in dire need of humanitarian assistance.

Your donation will go towards food, medicines, and basic humanitarian supplies, which these displaced victims desperately need.
