What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Birthday Celebrations
We provide birthday celebrations to kids in need age 5-12. Birthdays in a Box are packed by volunteers and are provided, free of charge, to families struggling with financial and housing instability. Each Birthday Box contains a Gift-of-Fun, a Gift-of-Need, and all the supplies for a birthday party with 10 friends.
High Five for Supplies
During the summer months we conduct a backpack and supplies drive. We work with the community and corporate sponsors to support children going back to school each fall with a backpack and the school supplies they need, based on their age/grade.
Youth Leadership Development
Being that we are founded by Mandi Simon when she was 8-years old, we have youth engaged and involved in our day-to-day leadership. We have a Kid Advisory Board in each of our chapters that provided real decisions for the organization. Our youth are often called upon for speaking engagements and attend corporate board meetings with our strategic partners.
Chapter Passion Projects
Our Kid Advisory Board teams are able to pick passion projects for their local areas. Our South Dakota and Massachusetts team are focusing in on Hunger in thier communities.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The mission of Simon Says Give is to develop the next generation of leaders to be unstoppable. In doing so, we work to help, uplift, and inspire children by celebrating their unique gifts and potential while minimizing the financial barriers to their success. The Birthdays in a Box program provides families in need with the opportunity to celebrate their child's special day, bringing families and friends together while inspiring confidence that they are truly worthy of celebration. High Five for Supplies further provides resources to thousands of young students in need to ensure that these children will not fall behind in the classroom because they could not afford the supplies necessary to succeed in school. As a Kid-Founded, Kid-Operated organization, we invest in the confidence, brilliance, and potential of the youth in our community because we know that they will be the next unstoppable agents of good in our world.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
By minimizing overhead costs and maximizing the value of our dedicated teams of volunteers, Simon Says Give is able to put 96% of our donation income directly towards helping kids in need. We partner with a network of nearly 50 nonprofits across the Twin Cities to ensure that our Birthday Boxes and our school supplies end up in the hands of those who need them most. Partnering with Simon Says Give ensures that your donation dollars will have the greatest impact in helping kids in need to become the leaders of tomorrow.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
To date, Simon Says Give has supplied over 50,000 backpacks and/or school supply kits to children in need as they returned to the classroom. We continue to run High Give for Supplies as an annual event to support thousands of kids every year.
Birthday celebrations have been the cornerstone of Simon Says Give since its founding in 2012, and we have celebrated nearly 10,000 birthdays to date between our chapters.

Balance sheetFiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31
SOURCE: IRS Form 990
The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.

President
Dina B Simon
Dina brings over 20 years of business and executive leadership to Simon Says Give. Her passion for helping people powers the Simon Says Give mission To Develop the Next Generation of Leaders to be Unstoppable by Kids Celebrating Kids, which is the vision of 8-year-old founder Mandi Simon, who is Dina's daughter.
With certifications in leadership development and executive coaching earned through two decades in the staffing industry, Dina applies that knowledge shepherding our fast growing organization. Dina recruited awesome leadership talent to form the Board of Directors, and attracted skilled volunteers to staff key positions of program leadership. Applying leadership skills and seemingly endless energy as President, has guided growth while Simon Says Give remains nearly exclusively a volunteer organization.
Founder and Chief Charity Officer
Mandi Simon
Mandi serves as our Visionary and Founder of Simon Says Give. With her passion for helping kids to make a difference in the world, she is the visionary behind our start-up and continues to be the driving force of inspiration and commitment to growth.
Mandi developed the idea of Birthday Celebrations from a then three year personal tradition of giving to others to celebrate her birthday instead of asking for toys or other gifts. Mandi was 8 years old at first Birthday Celebrations, and that is when we began this journey. Since then Simon Says Give has been able to impact thousands of kids lives with birthday celebrations.
Mandi teamed with Jim Johnson of Express Employment of Eagan to develop High Five For Supplies to honor her Summer birthday. Through the annual backpack drive in Minnesota, Simon Says Give provides back-to-school supplies for more than 8000 kids in the fall of each year!
