Mission

Angelwish.org was created in 1999 with the mission to provide the public with an easy way to grant wishes to the millions of children that are living with HIV/AIDS around the world. Infected or affected by the disease, their opportunities for a "normal" childhood are virtually impossible. In 2010, after 10 years of focusing on HIV/AIDS, Angelwish expanded its mission to include children living with chronic illnesses such as Asthma, Diabetes and Kidney Disease. Angelwish achieves its mission by ensuring that 100% of individual donations are used for program services and that those funds are extended, where possible, to incorporate an educational component giving young people a hands on lesson in philanthropy

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Over 14.6 Million children between the ages of 0 to 17 in the United States have special health care needs, the majority being chronic illnesses. These children are greatly underserved at most major hospitals, with dire consequences. Overseas, chronic illnesses are responsible for 63% of deaths worldwide, double the number of deaths from infectious diseases, perinatal conditions, and nutritional deficiencies combined.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Angelwish seeks to help millions of children living with chronic illnesses around the world enjoy their childhood while building the healthy foundation necessary to get a better education and a chance to escape the poverty cycle.

Angelwish engages donors to give back to children in need in a personal way that is also efficient, environmentally friendly, and cost efficient. By leveraging technology to initially engage donors, we guide them to invest with impact. We can accomplish this through the following programs:
-The Angelwish Wish Granting Program makes it possible for anyone, anywhere to dramatically impact the life of a child living with a chronic illness through our online wish list.
- The Angelwish Students Give Back Program offers volunteers the opportunity to teach Philanthropy to 3rd graders through a customized curriculum and a hands on learning opportunity.
- The Angelwish Holiday Toy Drive manages one of the largest physical toy distributions in the NYC Metro area.
- The Angelwish Transition Project is an effort to revive, revamp, and share a critical guide to transitioning children with HIV to adulthood.
- The Angelwish International Giving Program is how we let donors donate small amounts of funds to international partners.

Angelwish leverages technology to improve and update old and manual processes. We avoid recreating the wheel and instead, align different partners to do what they do best, ultimately benefiting children in need while creating a win-win opportunity for everyone involved. Our network of 125+ hospitals around the world gives us insight into the issues facing children living with chronic illnesses. Our visualization of a value

Over the course of 18 years, Angelwish has empowered 20,000+ employees at companies like Goldman Sachs, PIMCO, Credit Suisse, Fidelity Investments, Deloitte, UBS, & Starbucks, to host more efficient toy drives, recouping 60,000 hours of people time (conservatively worth $$28M) as they granted 200,000 wishes with a value of $3.6 Million, impacting the lives of over 500,000 people. We are far from finished and excited for the journey that lays ahead.

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
