Our programs

Professional Education for Musicians
LMA provides funds for musicians to attend seminars, workshops, and conventions for their collective organizational and professional development, funded mostly by the Lew & Lenny Legacy Fund.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
LMA provides administrative and production assistance for entrepreneurial musician-run projects. Over the years LMA has made possible many projects that could not have happened otherwise, due to musicians' lack of knowledge and skill in concert production and administration. Our goal is to continue that service.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
LMA's strategy depends on the needs of the projects that come our way. We are an opportunistic organization, responding to needs that arise in the larger musical community. On rare occasions LMA will produce its own projects, but in most cases LMA's professional advisors (primarily Sec/Treas/Admin Schweitzer) train the musician-entrepreneurs to carry out the tasks that need to be done to implement their projects -- booking artists and venues, directing the show, marketing, fundraising, budgeting, bookkeeping, etc. -- and let the musicians produce their own projects themselves. LMA provides the 501(c)(3) environment in which to carry out these functions and oversees the process.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
All of the LMA board and staff are experienced in various aspects of musical concert production, general operations and administration, in both for-profit and nonprofit environments. Their respective and collective skills and talents have brought to life dozens of successful events, touching hundreds of musicians and thousands of audience members.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
If a program is undertaken and successfully concluded, that's an accomplishment. There is nothing we haven't accomplished.

Financial data
LIVE MUSIC AWARENESS
Balance sheetFiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31
The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
