What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Cycling Without Age
The Cycling Without Age program has many benefits including educational, social, and health. As the bikes are driven by volunteer pilots, this will give the seniors an opportunity to build relationships with the pilots and typically passengers provide an education about the area they are riding in. It will also give them the opportunity to interact with other community members, which leads to social stimulation and improved mental health. It is also mentioned that participants have a greater awareness of environment. The confinement in their homes and allows them to be outdoors, and decreases isolation and increases disability recovery, self-care and confidence. For those with Dementia, it is extremely important for them go outdoors more often, as it increases their cognitive capacity. Along with the fact that increased contact with nature can increase immunity against illnesses, the benefits are endless as proven by a study from the University of Southern Denmark.
