Mission

To honor and provide assistance to veterans whose service for our nation has protected the freedoms we love and cherish. To do so by never forgetting those oft-spoken phrases... "All gave some and some gave all." "They were there when we needed them." "Now, we must be there when they or their families need us."

What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Our local veterans groups (DAV, American Legion, VFW, etc.)have substantial unfilled needs for their local members, but they only receive a pittance from their national organizations. Our group of 100+ unpaid members, GlenLakes veterans and friends, can fill that void, mainly by obtaining sponsorships and donations for an annual Nature Coast Veterans Day Golf Scramble. We also meet monthly for speakers on a variety of educational topics relevant to veterans and seniors, e.g., benefits, health, local politics, etc.

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.

Chairman

George Friel

Major General George E. Friel was born on 10 August 1942. He led the battle to establish the Chemical and Biological Defense Command (CBDCOM) at Edgewood Area, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, in the mid-1990s, convincing the Department of the Army and the Army Material Command (AMC) of the wisdom of establishing a major chemical command within AMC. Major General Friel was the on-site commander of the recovery operations at Spring Valley, site of a WWI-Chemical Weapon Facility outside of Washington D.C., and oversaw restoration of Rocky Mountain Arsenal, the Department of Defense largest super fund site. While commanding the 59th Ordnance Brigade, he planned and supervised the removal of the U.S. stockpile of chemical and tactical nuclear weapons from Europe. Major General Friels decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal and the Legion of Merit with three Oak Leaf Clusters.
