Nine out of ten people with Parkinson's will struggle with speaking, and aspiration pneumonia caused by swallowing complications accounts for 70% of the mortality rate in this patient population. Parkinson Voice Project has developed a highly effective speech therapy program that improves speech and communication and minimizes swallowing issues. Our organization aims to make our treatment accessible to people with Parkinson's worldwide.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
SPEAK OUT! Therapy Program
Nine out of 10 people with Parkinson's develop a weak voice with soft speech that can lead to life-threatening swallowing complications.
Parkinson Voice Project has developed an effective and clinically proven speech treatment for people with Parkinson's called "SPEAK OUT! Therapy." The organization treats patients throughout Texas and trains speech-language pathologists and graduate students worldwide.
SPEAK OUT! Therapy combines education for the patient and family, individual speech therapy, weekly speech and singing groups, daily home practice, and six-month follow-ups. The goal is to help these patients regain and retain their speech and swallowing abilities for a lifetime.
SPEAK OUT! Grant Program
Parkinson Voice Project’s SPEAK OUT! Grant Program aims to make our highly effective, clinically proven SPEAK OUT! Therapy Program accessible to more people diagnosed with Parkinson’s and related neurological disorders worldwide. Universities, hospitals, private practices, outpatient clinics, facilities, and other rehabilitation organizations are encouraged to apply for a training grant each year.
Grant awards include free SPEAK OUT! training for speech-language pathologists and graduate students. Select clinics also receive therapy workbooks, as well as funding to help support their therapy groups and research.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Parkinson Voice Project's vision is to make our clinically-proven speech therapy program (SPEAK OUT!) accessible to people with Parkinson's worldwide. By receiving quality speech treatment, people with Parkinson's and related neurological disorders can regain and retain their speech and swallowing.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1. Parkinson Voice Project runs a speech therapy clinic that treats people with Parkinson's who live in Texas either at its Richardson location or online through "teletherapy."
2. Parkinson Voice Project has developed a 10-hour continuing education course for speech-language pathologists and graduate students to teach them about Parkinson's and to train them in our clinically proven therapy approach.
3. Parkinson Voice Project is replicating our program across the globe by awarding grants annually to universities, hospitals, and speech therapy clinics that want to bring our SPEAK OUT! Program to their Parkinson's communities. The grants provide free therapy supplies and training.
4. Parkinson Voice Project is raising $20,000,000 to fund its speech therapy clinic for five years and to establish 50 "SPEAK OUT! Therapy & Research Centers" across the United States-- one in every state. Once these Centers are established, every person with Parkinson's in the U.S. will have access to our clinically proven treatment. The Centers will be housed within university speech therapy clinics that will commit to making Parkinson's a priority and will conduct research AND provide SPEAK OUT! Graduate students at every institution will receive specialized training in treating Parkinson's so that future speech-language pathologists will have the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively treat this patient population.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Parkinson Voice Project is already fulfilling goals 1 through 3. Goal #4 (establishing all 50 "Therapy & Research Centers" across the U.S.) will be met once the $20,000,000 is secured. This project will be easily executed as it is an extension of our current "SPEAK OUT! Grant Program" which was implemented in 2018 and has successfully increased access to quality treatment for the Parkinson's population.
Parkinson Voice Project is raising $20,000,000 to launch Centers in 50 states. These funds will cover the cost of Parkinson Voice Project's clinic, the grant program, and the 50 Centers for five years. During those same five years, all donations received will be deposited into Parkinson Voice Project's Endowment Fund to sustain the organization and its programs for the future.
Parkinson Voice Project has never had any debt.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In 2023, Parkinson Voice Project established Centers in 16 states: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Utah, Washington, and West Virginia.

Parkinson Voice Project
Balance sheetFiscal Year: Jul 01 - Jun 30
The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.

Founder & CEO
Mrs. Samantha Elandary
Samantha Elandary is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Parkinson Voice Project. She holds an MA in speech-language pathology from the University of North Texas. Since 1999, Elandary has devoted her life to making quality speech therapy accessible to individuals with Parkinson’s.
Early in her career, Elandary recognized that people with Parkinson's could preserve their speaking abilities if they received continuous speech therapy and daily practice, along with support and encouragement. Left untreated, speech deficits develop into life-threatening swallowing complications.
In 2005, Elandary founded “Parkinson Voice Project.” The organization has developed a two-part speech therapy program: SPEAK OUT! & The LOUD Crowd. Parkinson Voice Project treats patients across Texas in its clinic and trains speech-language pathologists across the globe in this clinically-proven method. The vision of Parkinson Voice Project is to make their program accessible to patients worldwide.
