Programs and results
What we aim to solve
The Northeast region of Thailand is poorest region in the country and has the highest rates of poverty. We aim to collaborate with local organizations to promote community development, eradicate poverty, and support equality for all despite their economic status. Not all children receive an equal chance at education, keeping those less fortunate stuck in the cycle of poverty.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Fight Malnutrition
Sufficient nutrition and proper meals are critical in the first five years of a child’s life to ensure healthy, normal development.
Every child deserves a healthy start in life, and no one deserves to go to bed hungry. Driven by these beliefs, Mundo Exchange fights to ensure that everyone has access to sufficient and nutritious food. Sufficient nutrition and proper meals are critical in the first five years of a child’s life to ensure healthy, normal development. We work with community leaders to identify families and elders in need of food, and help to provide care packages. We also support local schools so they have the means to provide students with a healthy and complete lunch.
Educating for a Brighter Tomorrow
In the face of abject poverty, many families in Chajul can barely afford to put food on the table, much less send their children to school.
Every child has the right to an education which is why Mundo Exchange is a proud and strong supporter of CEMIK – a school dedicated to giving young children living in poverty a free education in both Spanish and their native Maya language, Ixil, so they can give back to their community.
Furthermore, we help support students obtain higher education through student scholarships.
Building Safer Homes
Lack of adequate housing for children, the sick, and elders is one of the most critical problems facing those living in poverty in Issan, Thailand. Many homes are built haphazardly from scrap materials found nearby, and very few have doors, much less doors that lock. Every person has the right to safe, secure shelter that protects them from dangerous elements – both natural and human . Mundo Exchange teams up with local communities to ensure that every family has a roof over their heads.
Adopt an Elder
Due to poverty related reasons there are many elders not receiving necessary care, attention, assistance and treatment or medication. Many elders suffer from diseases but are denied access to treatment and medicine because they lack the means of getting to a clinic or hospital to receive a diagnosis and appropriate treatment. There's a government healthcare scheme in place to provide affordable medical access to the poor, but a Thai national ID is required. It's surprisingly common for Thais in poverty to lack this proof of citizenship, especially among the homeless and rural elder populations. Everyone deserves the right to healthy aging, and in the end of life have a right to be treated with dignity and receive compassionate care. We target elders in the most need and provide monthly food packages as well as basic health evaluations and connections to clinics when needed.

Financial data
MUNDO EXCHANGE INC
Balance sheetFiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31
The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
