What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Foster Learning

Our heart is to offer children in foster care high quality tutors with experience working with kids who have experienced trauma. Our tutors will offer them consistent, gentle support to build their success in school. We aim to maintain relationships with these children to continue support, regardless of their next step. If they change foster homes, change schools, get reunited with their bio families, or are adopted, our organization will continue to offer educational support for them as long as the need is there. Our tutors will help with whatever the child’s greatest needs are. This may include homework help, reading assistance, help with math, or building general positive study habits. We will work hand in hand with their foster parents, caseworkers, and school to offer the best support we can.

We are partnering English speaking families with non-English speaking families to exchange their languages and cultures while building friendships. This is an effort to help non-English speakers improve their English skills while also giving them the joy and dignity of sharing their own language and culture with another family and pass on the value of their language and culture in front of their children. Language is best used in friendship. Building relationships is a priority for our organization, and this program helps connect international families with American families so that they can feel like they are truly home here in America.

Principal Officer

Stacie Fuentes

Stacie, a Broken Arrow native and BAHS alumna, received her Bachelor’s in Deaf Education from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. Her passion for equal rights and accessibility for the underprivileged started young. She began tutoring younger Deaf students and volunteering with a local nonprofit when she was just eleven years old. After college she moved to Arizona where she taught Deaf students with expertise and compassion. Five years later, she returned to her hometown. Since her return to Broken Arrow she has been both home educator and entrepreneur. Besides founding Family Work Space, her work outside of the home includes being a self-employed American Sign Language interpreter and ASL teacher. One of her favorite parts of teaching and being self-employed has been the broad range of learning opportunities it affords her. Her broad range of experiences has driven her to dream and work to make Family Work Space a reality.
