Mission

Today, as at the beginning of its history, Holy Trinity Cathedral is a multiethnic, or, one might say, a local or American Orthodox community, the only Orthodox parish in San Francisco, California, where the services are conducted in English. Our warm community is open to all Orthodox Christians and anyone interested in deepening his or her faith in Jesus Christ. Many of our parishioners today are “converts” — women and men who have been consciously searching for the true faith and have found it in the ancient, apostolic, and faithful Holy Orthodox Church.

Today, as at the very beginning of its history, Holy Trinity Cathedral is a multinational, or, more accurately, an American Orthodox community, the only Orthodox church in San Francisco where the services are conducted in English (with some Slavonic). Our community is wholeheartedly open to all and any Orthodox Christians. The majority of our parishioners today are “converts” — Christians who have been consciously searching for the true faith and have found it in the Holy Orthodox Church.

Rev. Dr. Kirill Sokolov

As dean, Archpriest Kirill Sokolov leads Holy Trinity Cathedral in worshipping God according to the Holy Scriptures and Holy Traditions of the Church, encouraging union with God and among the faithful, coordinating educational and charitable efforts, and ministering to the congregation and wider community. Father Kirill was baptized as an infant at our sister parish of St. Nicholas in Saratoga, CA. He grew up at seminary and in a number of parishes including Holy Trinity Cathedral, where his father, Archpriest Victor, served as dean from 1991 until his repose in 2006. After college graduation, Kirill worked and attended classes at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in New York where he met his future wife, Sophia. He earned his doctorate in 2017 from Pepperdine University. In addition to his church leadership, Fr. Kirill has served in a number of non-profit educational leadership positions.
