What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Luvin Arms is a place of refuge for abused or neglected farmed animals. Over 56 billion land animals are killed for food every year, and before their deaths, these animals suffer in cruel, harsh conditions. Many animals are bred to grow so large that they cannot walk, causing them pain and other injuries. Chickens are either crammed into small battery cages with several other chickens or placed in massive sheds with tens of thousands of other chickens. Cows, sheep, goats, and other animals used for their milk are continually impregnated for years until they can no longer produce enough milk. Many farmed animals are living in their own feces and susceptible to painful ammonia burns as well as respiratory problems and other illnesses. Farmed animals are also killed within weeks or months of their lives when they are still considered babies. Luvin Arms works to rescue animals from this fate and provide them sanctuary for them to live out their lives in freedom.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

We are working to grow a farmed animal sanctuary that connects community through compassion. Luvin Arms aims to inspire our community to think differently and promote a more compassionate lifestyle through education and outreach programs.

Luvin Arms connects the community to farmed animals through education and outreach programs. We offer weekend “Connect” and “Compassion” tours that help the community build a deeper connection to farmed animals and inspire them to include farmed animals in their circle of compassion. We also hold impactful onsite education events such as cooking demos and workshops. These events teach people why to give up animal products and how to live a cruelty-free lifestyle.

Luvin Arms continues to reach more and more people to help make our goals possible. We table at dozens of farmers markets, festivals, pop-up markets, and leading animal advocacy conferences, spreading both local and national awareness.

Luvin Arms has 40 acres of land to provide sanctuary to rescued animals. We are also located to three major cities: Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins, which gives us plenty of opportunity to reach a wide audience of people.
Our staff consists of Tour Guides, Humane Educators, Animal Caregivers, and our Development Team, all who have experience working at other animal sanctuaries. Our staff also participate in ongoing professional development such as attending conferences and receiving training from vets.

Luvin Arms has directly saved 700 lives so far. Over 5,000 people visited the sanctuary in 2018, and 78% of everyone who comes on a tour and isn’t already living a cruelty-free lifestyle say they will make more compassionate lifestyle choices.

We offer cooking classes, documentary screenings, panels, dinners, educational talks, and workshops throughout the year that help make our community aware of more compassionate choices and why we should make those choices.

Also in 2018, we were published in an eighth grade textbook in India, a publication that reached 300,000 people just that year.

Currently, we plan to rescue more animals in need; expand our marketing, education, and outreach; and expand our facilities to better help our residents and reduce costs. We also plan to increase enrichment for our animal residents, to provide them the best environment both physically and mentally.

Balance sheet

Fiscal Year: Jan 01 - Dec 31

SOURCE: IRS Form 990 info

The balance sheet gives a snapshot of the financial health of an organization at a particular point in time. An organization's total assets should generally exceed its total liabilities, or it cannot survive long, but the types of assets and liabilities must also be considered. For instance, an organization's current assets (cash, receivables, securities, etc.) should be sufficient to cover its current liabilities (payables, deferred revenue, current year loan, and note payments). Otherwise, the organization may face solvency problems. On the other hand, an organization whose cash and equivalents greatly exceed its current liabilities might not be putting its money to best use.
