What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Advocacy
As a result of the efforts of Ability Resources, hundreds of individuals with disabilities are able to reside in their own homes instead of entering prematurely into nursing homes. Individuals who wish to exit from nursing homes to return to community living are also assisted in achieving this goal. Ability Resources also provides assistance in obtaining other community services, improving community access through ADA accessibility surveys and skills training, systems advocacy and individual & community education. Ability Resources also provides literacy training, information & referral, employment assistance, independent living skills training, adaptive equipment loan & donation program, benefits planning assistance and case management.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our organization aims to fulfill our mission: “Assisting people with disabilities in attaining and maintaining their personal independence through advocacy, education and service." Through our services, we accomplish this everyday. We also aim to assist the aging community to remain in their homes.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The strategies we deploy include proactive approach to wellness in order to maintain independence. We provide Tai Chi for Arthritis for Better Balance for the aging community. This is done to prevent falls which are the leading cause of serious injury and death in the elderly.
We also make every effort to help provide the needs to many who are not able to afford equipment necessary to make living independently possible - wheelchairs, hospital beds, walkers, railing, ramps, etc. We take donations of these items, then fulfill the need of a client by donating it to them.
Our staff remains involved with the community and seeks individuals that we may be able to assist. Additionally, we do not turn people away - if there is a need we will do all we are able to help and if we cannot accomplish it we will find another organization that is able.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Ability Resources' capabilities for meeting our goals are attributed mainly to dedicated and well-trained staff members. The organization is very thorough and remains knowledgeable on any changes involving or affecting the disabled community. A large majority of the staff and volunteers have been involved with the organization for over 10 years.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Over the years, Ability Resources has accomplished many great things. We have assisted a homeless woman and her caregiver to obtain housing, built a ramp for a young boy to be able to get in and out of his home more easily, provided countless amounts of medically necessary equipment to clients, helped clients remain in their home or transition out of nursing facilities back to their own homes, and much more.
What we have not yet accomplished is being able to eliminate discrimination against the disabled community. We strive to make a world where people are seen for who they are not their disability and live a normal life.
