What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Gulf Coast Fly Away
FLASh participated in a huge rescue operation, which included getting several hundred dogs from the Gulf Coast region to rescues and adopters in other areas of the country, following the BP Oil spill (many families lost their jobs and we saw the pet surrender rate sky rocket.) Pilots-n-Paws offered to fly rescued dogs to their destinations. 20 dogs were selected from Lafayette Animal Control Center. FLASh coordinated and funded their spays/neuters and vaccinations, foster homes, and transport to New Orleans Lakefront Airport. It was a great success.
Adoption Partnership with PetCo
FLASh is an Adoption Partner with the local PetCo store. Through this, we are able to share very nice Adoption Packets with Lafayette Animal Control Center adopters, which not only offer valuable coupons, but encourage good pet care. This program also allows us to hold events at the local Petco, maintain a information table at the store, which features the adoptable animals at Lafayette Animal Control Center.
Strut Your Mutt
As a Network Partner with Best Friends Animal Society, FLASh hosted a fundraiser/walk in Lafayette, Strut Your Mutt. We invited other local animal welfare groups to participate and raise funds for their organizations as well. We will be doing this event annually.
Santa Paws
Have your pet's photo taken with Santa! FLASh, in partnership with Petco Foundation, takes your pet's photo with Santa every Christmas, and provides you with that photo on site, in a keepsake frame.
Partnership with the Lafayette Animal Shelter
FLASh actively partners and works with the Lafayette Shelter to support its work and the health, comfort, and adoptability of the animals there. FLASh directs a variety of programs to this end, including a Kuranda Dog Bed donation program, the Adopter Gift Bag project, and the Have a Heart by Healing One project (raising funds for heartworm positive dogs.)
