Association for Parrot Care Conservation Adoptions Rescue

In 2019, the Association for Parrot C.A.R.E. received a grant from the LUSHFoundation to build a new quarantine aviary for newly arriving parrots to preventthe spread of communicable disease amongst parrots. In addition, the indoorflight aviaries had a new heating and air conditioning unit installed that allowsfor the temperature to be automatically controlled via a smart phone. The outdooraviaries had a misting system installed to simulate the rainforest. The parrotswere comfortable throughout the year in these habitats deliberately designed fortheir well-being. One of the veterans who provides daily care for the parrotsand who feels like he has healed some of his trauma through "parrot therapy" wasfeatured on a CNN advertisement for Geico speaking about how the parrots havehelped him heal. Several other veterans also provide care for the parrots andboth parrot and veteran derive comfort and healing from their relationshipstogether. In October 2019, the Founder was invited to attend the first ever Parrot Conservation Alliance conference in Memphis, TN and co-led a group on healing veterans with "parrot therapy." She has participated in all subsequent meetings that have been held. This is the premiere group for parrot conservation and parrot sanctuaries in the country.
