What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Camp Spark - Igniting Knowledge!
Camp Spark – Igniting Knowledge! sessions are offered when students in Leon County are on school breaks for the fall break, winter holiday, spring break, and throughout the summer. The camp program is offered to 5 year old students through the 8th grade. Daily sessions are provided over the fall, winter, and spring breaks. Over the summer, sessions run on a weekly basis. Each day or week long session will offer campers the opportunity to explore science through creative play, experimentation, and inquiry based learning experiences. The sessions present age-appropriate curriculum and are designed to provide students with engaging educational activities that are both informative and entertaining. MoLab’s camp program makes science fun and links Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) concepts to the real-world. Campers explore the art of discovery!
Camp Spark will be held in partnership with a School or Organization within Leon County. New locations will expand MoLab’s reach and will provide unique areas of exploration to engage our campers!
Investigation Workshops
Investigation Workshops are inquiry-based, hands-on exploration experiences that allow students to gain firsthand knowledge in the sciences. These programs promote collaboration and enhance critical thinking skills. Each class is approximately 45 minutes in length.
StarLab
Explore the night sky and planet earth in StarLab, a portable planetarium. This educational tool is an inflatable dome, which can be brought to any indoor location that has a 22 X 21 square foot area with a 12 foot height clearance that is free of air vents and light fixtures. An average class size group can climb into StarLab for a unique program, which offers a variety of curriculum topics. Each show is tailored to suit the learning level of the audience.
MoBus Solar Science Sustainability Lab
The MoBus Solar Science Sustainability Lab provides hands-on solar science and environmental sustainability experiences. This will include, but not be limited to: circuitry, solar cell technology, and the connection between energy and all living things. MoBus will also focus on sustainable practices to increase environmental awareness and knowledge. The interactive Lab will provide real-world learning experiences through hands-on project-based education that will help enable youth to think, create, problem-solve, and become life-long sustainable advocates.
The Lab will have the capability to accommodate a typical class size. The classes will be an hour in length and MoLab will be able to conduct up to 6 classes per day.
